Juliette Smith is an amateur oil painter based in Chicago, IL.

After staring at Excel spreadsheets every day for the last six years, Juliette found herself teetering on the edge of a full-blown existential crisis. Corporate burnout, boredom, and a not-so-subtle attempt to impress a boy with an eyebrow piercing led her to sign up for a beginner’s oil painting class in the summer of 2023. She hadn't painted since her high school days; even then, she was better known for her pencil drawings of communist dictators in burlesque than her paintings.

To no one’s surprise, Juliette took to painting like a bisexual to a pair of Doc Martens. What started as a mere flirtation with art quickly spiraled into full-blown obsession. Now, not a single day goes by where she isn’t either hunched over a canvas or plotting her next masterpiece.

Still new to this, she's in the midst of finding her style and artistic identity. Juliette looks for beauty and inspiration in everything—with the right lighting, everything is paintable. Juliette draws some of her inspiration from the moody, dramatic lighting of Edward Hopper, combined with a dash of Georgia O'Keeffe's unapologetic celebration of feminine forms—because, let’s be honest, Juliette has a thing for the female form too.

Enjoy browsing Juliette's portfolio, and don't hesitate to inquire about your own custom piece—she's always up for a new creative challenge.
